Ahhh Ras Natango Gallery and Art Hurricane Melissa Damages
Ahhh… Ras Natango Gallery and Garden Post Melissa Update. On Tuesday October 28, 2025 a category five hurricane made landfall on the south coast of Jamaica. Exiting on the north Coast over Montego Bay st James.
No matter how prepared we were the truth is no one can truly prepare for the type of fury which was unleashed for 19 hours nonstop by Melissa.
The mountainous landscape looked like a war zone the morning after.

Our Home:
Our home had one window broken by the storm .The roof made from concrete withstood the onslaught of the winds of over 220 mph gusts.
Gallery and Gift Shop:
All items in gallery and gift shop were secured and are now safely displayed, awaiting purchases from our visitors.
Garden Infrastructure:
All man-made items in he garden was ripped apart, columns ripped from their foundations and tossed in every direction. Damage to the 80% of the perimeter fencing. The hammock area flattened, the restroom in garden Flattened, the welcome area at the front where we meet and greet visitors who hand feed hummingbirds. Gone!!
Hummingbirds and Wildlife:
Scores of hummingbirds, several species of Endemic birds, swarms of bees have descended on Ahhh for food having lost their habitats. With help from friends we are able to feed them all.

The garden:
Tons of debris covered the garden but as we remove them we found that all the terraced pathways are intact . All garden beds though the plants are bruised will make a full recovery with care.

If you have visited Ahhh. You are already family and so we ask you to help us to rebuild the infrastructure better, stronger. It took over 37years to create before Melissa so we ask those of you who are able to assist us in rebuilding to do so.

Your contribution has two goals. Putting the youngsters to work in restoring Ahhh. Thereby earning to make their own changes as this is not an easy or quick fix for any of us.
